If you're responsible for managing a copy rental fleet or supplying copier replacement parts for office equipment dealers, then you probably are already aware of the fact that the fuser assembly represents the most consistently working section of all heavy-duty multi-functional printers. Among all the components related to the fuser assembly, however, it is probably the fuser upper roller that is most responsible for retaining print quality, fusing toner, and keeping the machine from experiencing downtime.
Because of this, the aftermarket for compatible rollers and cheap imitation products disguised as being genuine Xerox aren't worth any customer's time. So, how can procurement managers or technicians be certain that they are purchasing true original equipment quality?
At HonHai Technology, we have decades of experience in the printer parts industry, and today we are going to share our inspection secret that you can use to instantly tell if the supplier is providing a genuine Xerox fuser upper roller or cheap imitations.
When technicians initially inspect a brand new OEM-grade fuser upper roller for a Xerox machine, they are often confused upon examining some visual detail: the metal ends have different scratches.
Let us clarify this right away: these scratches were NOT from any previous use or wear and tear.
The scratches were actually a part of precision original factory processes during manufacture.
During manufacture, the specialized red coating on the roller overlapped the main body all the way to the milled markings shown in the image. During the next manufacturing stage, the factory cuts away the extruded material from the coating.
The precise cutting operation creates the well-defined “scratching” on the surface of the metal ends.
If you examine cheap generic compatible fuser rollers that are presently available in the market, you will observe that the metal ends do not exhibit any cuts or scratches when compared to the original rollers.
Next time you receive sample images from your supplier, look for scratches on the metal ends which would indicate that they are original fuser parts. Metallized metal ends devoid of any signs of cuts would indicate that the product is merely a copy of the original.
It is not only important to identify real quality but also to make sure that you have the right equipment for the required function.
